An impressive commemoration parade was organised by the police personnel at the police parade grounds here on Monday in memory of the policemen those who made supreme sacrifice at the altar of duty.

Principal District and Sessions Judge H Ananda Rao, Collector I Srinivas Sri Naresh, Superintendent of Police A.V.Ranganath and others took part in a meeting held on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day here.

The participants paid homage to the policemen those who had laid down their lives while discharging their duties. They observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the police martyrs. The speakers recalled the supreme sacrifice made by the policemen in the line of duty. In his speech, Mr. Ranganath has made a specific mention of the killing of Greyhounds Reserve Inspector Prasad allegedly by Maoists in the aftermath of the Puvarthi encounter in the neighbouring Chhattisgarh State over six months ago. “We have lost an efficient police officer due to a small error,” he said asserting that the left wing extremism in the district was well under control.
