HYDERABAD: The police conducted extensive searches at the High Court and City Court buildings in Old City here on Friday after anonymous persons made threatening phone calls stating bombs would be detonated there.

Anti-sabotage checking teams and sniffer dogs were used to comb both the places but the calls turned out to be false alarms. However, work was not disturbed at the courts. The Charminar police station Inspector, G. Prasada Rao, said an unidentified person called up the landline phone in the Commissioner's Task Force at Secunderabad around 7.42 a.m. stating that High Court building would be blown up between 10.45 a.m. and 11.45 a.m.

Based on the number displayed on the caller ID instrument, police traced the call to East Godavari district. A case was registered. The Mirchowk Inspector, S. Mohan, said another call threatening that bombs would be exploded at Civil Court was received prompting the police to search the premises thoroughly.

This too turned out to be hoax.
