1,902 hoardings, cut-outs, 11,666 flexi boards cleared

Notices issued for white-washing poles and wall writings

KADAPA: As many as 1,902 hoardings and cut-outs and 11,666 flexi boards put up by various political parties for electioneering have been removed by officials in Kadapa district by March 20.

In the implementation of model code of conduct, 1,368 wall-writings and 3,846 electrical and telephone poles have been white-washed in the district, according to Collector Shashi Bhushan’s report faxed to the Chief Electoral Officer. Twenty eight notices have been served on violations like use of educational institutions, religious places, issue of advertisements and so on, but not a single criminal case has been booked in the district so far for violation of model code of conduct. Notices were served on some departments in Kadapa for issuing advertisements on ‘Mahila Dinotsavam’, to the Kodur mandal engineer for formation of a cement road, a notice for using school premises in Mydukur. These apart, notices have been issued for removal of banners, posters, white-washing of electrical poles and wall writings.
