Parents urged to encourage their children to study the national language Hindi on a par with English and Telugu
The official language Hindi can keep all the Indians united, Retd. Head of Hindi Department in the Government Arts College here B. Sivarami Reddy said quoting freedom-fighter Ramdhari Sinh Dinakar.
Speaking at the valedictory of Hindi fortnight in the LIC divisional office here, he quoted Mahatma Gandhi as saying that Hindi would be enriched and gain more acceptability from the people when regional languages in the country amalgamate with it.
Hindi was a combination of words from several languages and hence a natural language, Mr. Sivarami Reddy said. Proficiency in Hindi was essential for employees to get promotions, particularly to those working in northern States.
Hindi needed more encouragement at present and parents should encourage their children to study Hindi on a par with English and Telugu.
LIC Senior Divisional Manager G. Babu Rao, who presided, said the Corporation was striving to promote knowledge of Hindi. LIC Marketing Manager K. Munikrishnaiah, Official Language Implementation Officer Venkateswara Rao, Personnel Department officials Y. Sujit Kumar and Gururaj participated. Winners of competitions in Hindi poetry, jokes and songs were presented prizes.
In the seventh anniversary of micro-insurance, Mr. Babu Rao said it was aimed at those below the poverty line who were being provided insurance cover. LIC Micro-Insurance Manager Paramahamsa, employees and agents participated.
