Traffic went haywire in the afternoon at Shadnagar on the National Highway -7 on Friday where Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's Rachabanda programme was conducted.

The programme was organised at a venue very close to the highway.

Soon after the programme concluded, all the pedestrians and vehicles, particularly the huge convoy of RTC buses that ferried members of self-help groups from the surrounding districts of Kurnool, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad, headed towards the highway.

The sudden influx of buses onto the highway at around 3 p.m. caused severe traffic jam, as vehicles got stuck in serpentine lines on either side of the road.

Police had a tough time in regulating the traffic and it took over two hours for them to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
