Government provoking police for ’intimidating tactics’
Agitation to continue till every poor person gets 2 acres of land
NALGONDA: The leaders of the Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have made it clear that the Congress Government cannot stop the ‘Bhoo Poratam’ with detentions and highhandedness.
“Detention is not a new thing for us. We, the Communists, fought against the powerful Nizam’s draconian rule and succeeded in bringing in land reforms,” the CPI (M) floor leader Nomula Narasimhaiah said while addressing a public meeting jointly organised by the two Communist parties against detention at the Clock Tower centre here on Wednesday.
Drawing parallels between the Telangana peasants’ armed struggle and the present phase of ‘Bhoo Poratam’, Mr.Narasimhaiah asked the Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy to mend his ways and distribute the land to poor and downtrodden.
Taking strong exception to the police firing at Mudigonda in Khammam district, the CPI State secretariat member K. Ramakrishna alleged that the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s Government was provoking police to resort to such “intimidating tactics.” He said that the agitation would continue till every poor got two acres of land. The CPI (M) leaders Cherupalli Sitaramulu, Julakanti Ranga Reddy and Nandhyala Narasimha Reddy and the CPI leaders Ravindra Kumar and Palla Venkat Reddy also spoke.
