The incidence of Tuberculosis (TB) is increasing in Karimnagar district due to various reasons including the pollution. On an average for one lakh population, there are around 203 TB cases, which include 165 new cases every year.
Disclosing this to newsmen here on Thursday, district TB control officer Dr. Rajesham said that every year more than 3,000 new TB cases were being identified for treatment in various parts of Karimnagar district. He said that around 160 TB patients were waiting for multi-drug resistant TB (MDR) treatment, which would be continued for a period of two years including six months of injections alone.
On the occasion of World TB Day on March 24, the Medical and Health Department had decided to conduct an awareness rally in various parts of the district.
