A youth, who allegedly cheated job-seekers to the tune of Rs.55 lakhs, was taken into custody.

R. Naga Srinivasa Rao alias Vinod Kumar of Tirupati, took three private job consultancy firms in the city into confidence with false claims of having contacts in IBM company. He created fake documents showing that the company had a huge manpower requirement and collected Rs.1.50 lakh from 35 candidates during September.

The candidates grew suspicious when they did not get any call letter even after three months and lodged a complaint with the Fourth Town Police. The prime accused, Srinivasa Rao, was apprehended in Tirupati on Saturday and brought to the city. Two other accused are at large.
