The South-West monsoon turned vigorous over the State due to a trough in the atmosphere extending from Vidharba region in Maharashtra to south Tamil Nadu, causing heavy rain in Coastal Andhra and Telangana regions.

The rain recorded at Nandigama in Krishna district was 9 cm rain and at Koyyalagudem 8 cm.

Heavy inflows from intermediary sources of the Krishna reached Prakasam Barrage at Vijayawada on Thursday, forcing authorities to open 12 out of its 64 gates.
