Instructing government schools’ headmasters to strive for better results with high marks in the ensuing Secondary School Certificate Examinations, Collector Smita Sabharwal asked headmasters to counsel teachers to conduct classes regularly with dedication.
During the review meeting on the performance of various government schools during the recent quarterly examinations held in the Collectorate here on Thursday, the Collector directed the headmasters to ensure that the subject teachers fall in line and discharge their duties effectively.
If the errant teachers did not mend their ways even after counselling, the Collector instructed the headmasters to inform the same to the respective deputy DEO and the DEO for taking necessary action.
The Collector also asked headmasters to communicate regularly with the deputy DEOs and vice- versa. When some of the headmasters said that they were unable to conduct classes properly due to the shortage of teachers and non-availability of vidya volunteers, she took them to task for not informing the same to the authorities concerned.
Expressing concern over the failure of students in some schools, the Collector also instructed the headmasters to ensure that special classes were conducted for the benefit of students during the morning and evening hours with the subject teachers.
She also asked them to conduct regular meetings with the parents committee to ensure that the students’ performance improved.
Additional Joint Collector Sunder Abner said that the headmasters were team leaders and ensured quality results in the SSC examinations. DEO K. Lingaiah, RDOs Ayesha Khan, Sunanda, Hanumantha Rao and others were present.
