Rajahmundry: A large number of teachers under the leadership of MLC from Teacher’s constituency George Victor took up agitation over the death of Head Master Nemani Ramarao (55) who met with an accident near Korukonda on Tuesday night.

The Head Master of Gummalladoddi in Gokavaram mandal was allegedly pulled up by the DEO on official matters.

Ramarao met with an accident while returning from review meeting of the DEO and his vehicle was involved in a collision an RTC bus. He died on the spot.

On Wednesday, hundreds of teachers reached Civil Hospital here and paid homage to the fellow teacher near mortuary. They staged rasta-roko on main road blocking traffic for more than an hour. Leaders of UTF, APTF, State B.Ed., Association and others participated in the programme.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. George Victor said that he has received many complaints from teachers that the DEO was harassing teachers in the name of marathon meetings almost every day.

Teacher’s Association leaders Aruna Kumari, Prabhakara Varma, N. Venkateswara rao, Trinatha Kumar, Muralikrishna, RVV Satyanarayana, D.V. Swami Reddy, Veerraju and M. Satynarayana alleged that they had represented their problems to the DEO many times.

The Teacher’s Association leaders and MLC demanded an ex gratia of Rs.10 lakhs to the bereaved family and also action against the DEO.
