The supreme head of Universal Syrian Orthodox Churches, Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka-I Iwas, passed away on Friday after suffering a massive heart attack while in Germany, a release said. The members of Mor Gregorios Jacobite Syrian Cathedral in Mettuguda mourned the death of the clerical authority.

The supreme head, Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka-I Iwas completed 30 years in the Holy Patriarchal See on the day of the Feast of Holy Cross in 2010.
