Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) deputy floor leader in Assembly T. Harish Rao said his party was ready for an open debate on ‘Amma Hastam’ programme being implemented by the State government.

Speaking to reporters at Medak on Saturday, Mr. Harish Rao said that the government has reduced the quantity of sugar (from one kilogram to half -a- kilogram,) wheat (from 10 kg to 1 k.g.) and kerosene from (four litres to one-and-half litres).

“The government has been claiming that it is giving Rs. 180 worth essential commodities for Rs. 107 only. But actually the government is benefiting by Rs. 33 on each pack by reducing the quantity,” he said adding that the amount being spent on propagating the programme should be spent on increasing the quantity in the packets.

Mr. Harish Rao said that the free power for those who are having single light was discontinued by the government. He also alleged that the government was trying to divert some funds from SC, ST Sub-plan.
