Weavers of different places displayed looms with latest technologies at the week-day ‘Handloom and Appropriate Technology Exhibition’, being organised by Weavers Service Centre, Ministry of Textiles.

The weavers gave demo on functioning of multiple extra weft butta mechanism of weaving, extra weft insertion technology, pneumatic jacquard saree weaving, textile testing machines of Textile Committee Committee and silk yarn reeling in the exhibition.

Regional Deputy Director of Handlooms and Textiles (Rajahmundry) A. Satyanarayana, who inaugurated the exhibition Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce Hall in the city on Thursday, went round the exhibition and enquired the weavers about the latest technology looms.

The weavers displayed the new designs, dying and weaving technologies introduced into the market. Seventeen Handloom Weavers Cooperative Societies (HWCS) from various districts have exhibited silk sarees, dress materials, bed sheets, cotton wear and other garments in the exhibition-cum-sale.

Weavers Service Centre Deputy Director Vishesh Nautiyal, Central Silk Board scientist P. Mathi Azhagan, Quality Assurance Officer (Textiles Committee Laboratory) G. Seshagiri Rao and Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce general secretary R.V. Bhoopal Prasad were present.
