GVMC Commissioner M.V.Sathyanarayana has asked additional commissioner B.Nagendra Kumar to prepare proposals for execution of metro rail project keeping in view the present and future of the city.
Addressing a review meeting with engineering officials at his chambers here on Thursday, he said that several new projects will be formulated in the new financial year keeping the growth prospects of the ever expanding city. He asked officials to prepare proposals keeping the union government’s metro policy 2013 in view.
He said that the proposal which will be on the lines of Kochi and Bhopal cities will be submitted to the government for approval. The metro rail he added would ease the traffic and travelling woes of the people and also make life comfortable.
He revealed plans to appoint consultants in six GVMC wards for setting up of six bio-gas plants using garbage as raw materiel. He also spoke of plans to set up de-salination plant at the local Rama Krishna beach for purifying sea water and supplying the same to the industries. Among the other proposals include, introduction of e-toilets and L.E.D. lamps in GVMC schools and Raiwada Water Supply scheme under JNNURM scheme. The commissioner said that the schemes implementation will be reviewed every Saturday.
