Gurajada Samskritika Samakhya, at its meeting on Wednesday, resolved to honour Modali Nagabhushana Sarma, noted stage artiste, writer, and critic, with ‘Gurajada Visista Puraskar’ on the evening of November 30.

In all, 30 cultural organisations have jointly instituted the puraskar that comprises a citation, a gold ring, and a memento.

The samakhya has been felicitating eminent personalities performing on stage and films, and writers for the past 12 years. In the morning on that day, artistes, officials, and elected representatives would take out a procession by carrying Gurajada’s belongings from Gurajada’s house near the Fort to M.R. College, where they would pay tributes after garlanding his statue. Later, in the literary meet to be conducted, noted writer Jagadhatri and others would participate.

Postal stamp

In the evening, Lok Sabha member Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi would release a postal stamp brought out by the Department of Posts on the occasion of the 150{+t}{+h}birth anniversary celebrations of the Mahakavi at Ananda Gajapathi Auditorium.
