Guntur urban, rural SPs take charge

Ake Ravikrishna, an IPS officer of 2006 batch, assumed charge as the Superintendent of Police, Guntur Urban, on Monday. Mr. Ravikrishna is the third SP of the Guntur Urban Police District, carved out of Guntur Police District two years back. He succeeds S. Syamsundar, an IPS officer of 2005 batch.

Having worked in Maoist affected areas during the initial years of his career, Mr. Ravikrishna has made his mark with his novel initiatives aimed to bring police closer to the public.

During his stint as Additional Superintendent of Police, Parvatipuram agency, Mr. Ravikrishna introduced ‘Chellalu Kosam', and ‘Amma Kosam'- initiatives to address the problem of domestic violence.

He worked as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Kothagudem and DCP, Traffic, Hyderabad before taking charge as SP, Guntur urban on Monday.

Outgoing SP S. Syamsundar handed over the charge in the morning.

Meanwhile, J. Satyanarayana, an IPS officer of 2008 batch, took over as SP, Guntur Rural from A. Ravichandra. After clearing Group-1 examination in 1990, Mr. Satyanarayana worked as DSP, Nizamabad, ACP, Vijayawada and ASP in East Godavari.Mr. Satyanarayana also worked as OSD, East Godavari and Deputy Director, Andhra Pradesh Police Academy before being posted to CCS. Mr. Satyanarayana told media persons that he would strive to maintain law and order and bring police closer to the public.
