Want to experience a whiff of fresh air blowing across your face and still burn the extra calories? Take to cycling as a hobby and you will be surprised at the change in your fitness levels.

Well, for a change, doctors in Guntur have decided to `ride,’ the talk on health and fitness and formed into a group promoting cycling as a daily exercise regimen. Cycling as an exercise has been widely recommended for weight loss and is known to exert less pressure on knee joints.

Cycling is also known for its stressbusting.

Leading the group is plastic surgeon G. Satish, who had recently experienced the thrill of group cycling in Kashmir. Dr. Satish decided to use the reach of social media and created a Facebook page, ‘DOCS’ (Doctors on cycles).

The group event instantly grabbed the attention of many of his friends and they decided to launch a group ride on August 31. The 10 k.m. group ride would commence from Guntur Medical Club and pass through the DRM Road before reaching to its destination.

“The group ‘DOCS’ consists of doctors practising in Guntur. If doctors as a group start cycling, it will motivate many others to take up cycling as a daily activity,’’ Dr. Satish said on Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, Dr. Satish, accompanied by I.V.L. Narasimha Rao (psychiatrist). Ch.Sivaram (neurologist) Kaladhar and K. Nagarjuna (both diabetologists), rode their cycles on the DRM Road.
