Differences between different groups came to the fore once again in the YSR Congress on Wednesday when the party new convener Meriga Muralidhar took over charge at the party office located at Podalakur road here.
Some leaders hailing from Venkatagiri led by Nemallapudi Suresh Reddy arrived at the party office and picked up an argument with the district level leaders. They reportedly demanded that Venkatagiri party coordinator Kommi Lakshmaiah Naidu be removed from the post as he was not taking the local leaders into confidence.
Mr. Lakshmaiah Naidu is a former MLA from Atmakur assembly segment and he is known to be close to outgoing YSRC district convener Kakani Govardhan Reddy. Recently, Mr. Govardhan Reddy voluntarily stepped down from convener post saying that he wanted to focus on his Sarvepalli assembly segment for the 2014 elections.
The new convener Muralidhar is stated to belong to the group led by the Mekapati family.
“There was no clash between leaders today. Venkatagiri leaders were having some grievance and we would solve their problem soon,” Mr. Muralidhar told The Hindu .
As the leaders from Venkatagiri appeared unrelenting, a senior leader close to the Mekapati family intervened and pacified them.
