Collector Ramsankar Naik said 72.73 per cent of candidates reported for Group II examination in the district. Talking to reporters after inspecting the examination centres at Safa Engineering College and Pullareddy Engineering College on Sunday, he said out of 12,255 candidates enrolled, 8,911 reported for the examination. A total of 3,344 remained absent.
He asked invigilators to ensure hall ticket number, centre code and paper code on the OMR sheets of every candidate. He said answer sheets would be sorted out code-wise and sent to Hyderabad with full escort. Eleven senior officers and 22 Tahsildars supervised from the revenue side.
Kadapa Special Correspondent adds: 5,195 candidates (70.05 per cent) appeared for the exam in 39 centres in Kadapa district on Sunday. A total of 12,678 candidates in Kadapa district had applied but only 7,220 candidates took hall tickets.
In all, 2,162 candidates were absent for the exams on Sunday, according to District Collector V. Anil Kumar.
However, the attendance was higher on Saturday with 5,311 candidates (73.05 per cent) taking the test. APPSC member Chandrasekhar and section officers Devendranath and J.V.S. Murthy oversaw the exams.
The Collector went round APPSC centres in Gurukul Vidyapeeth, Kesava Reddy Concept School, Government Junior College for Girls, Municipal High School and St. Joseph's Junior College.
Thirteen Special Deputy Collectors went round on flying squad duty.
Twelve liaison officers and 39 assistant liaison officers also went round the exam centres and oversee the conduct of exam.
District Revenue Officer P.H. Hemasagar officiated as APPSC Group II coordinator.
