The majestic ‘Hawa Mahal' building on the Beach Road was bustling with activity for the past few days. ‘Lights, camera, action…' we find a tall man, wearing a typical hat, giving instructions to the unit members.
One of the unit members introduces him to us as ‘Prasad Rayala', the director. We learn that he is none other than R.V. Prasad of Visakhapatnam who has migrated to the US a decade ago as an IT entrepreneur.
It's comes as no surprise that he chose Visakhapatnam and surrounding areas to make his first directorial venture in Telugu ‘Graduate' under the banner of Script Technologies Private Ltd. “I am concerned about the present day youth who are content with making a fast buck ignoring the need to go for higher education. They feel that their parents are a generation behind and fail to heed their advice,” says Mr. Prasad. Many of the youths had realised that their parents were right after the global meltdown.
‘Graduate' revolves around short term versus long-term careers among the modern day youth.
The comedy is hilarious and built-in with the story featuring leading comedians like Bramhanandam, Krishna Bhagwan, Chandramohan, M.S .Narayana and Kondavalasa.
The story reflects the current day attitude and behavior of youngsters who prefer to live for the day. The hero comes as a role model who still retains family values and pursues long-term career heeding the advice of his parents.
Mr. Prasad had a brief stint in Telugu movies as an actor two decades ago and had received the prestigious Nandi Award as ‘Best Villain' in 1992.
He underwent extensive training in Digital Film Making and Cinematography at NYFA, Universal Studios in Los Angeles. The shooting of the film and the songs concluded on July 31. The post-production work will commence in August. The film will be ready for release by the end of September or early October. The film, produced by Attaluri Shivaji, an NRI from Canada, has five songs. Music is directed by Sandeep.
Akshay, a Telugu NRI from USA, plays the hero. Tashu Kaushik is the heroine while Ritika Sood (an NRI from Austria) plays the second heroine. Ranjeet and Manoj Major from Vizag play supporting roles.
