Recruitment of lecturers stalled due to HC direction to fill 2,300 posts at one goState to move court to recruit candidates for 416 vacancies

VIJAYAWADA: Higher Education Minister Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao on Thursday said that the system of announcing grades was introduced on an experimental basis while releasing Intermediate first year results and it proved to be a satisfactory arrangement. It would be followed while releasing the second year Intermediate results too, which would be on April 26 or 27, he said talking to newspersons here on Thursday.

Mr. Rao maintained that the students did not face any problems on account of the new system. Many of them were able to know the marks through the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) by dialling some telephone numbers.

On recruitment of lecturers, Mr. Rao said that the process had come to a standstill because of a direction from the High Court to fill up 2,300 posts at one go, which was not possible. It had come at a time when the higher education department was about to write a letter to the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission asking it to recruit candidates for 416 vacancies.

The Government would now move the Court and seek permission for recruitment to only 416 vacancies, he said.

Mr. Rao expressed satisfaction over Krishna district securing top position in the pass percentage in Intermediate first year results. There was a significant improvement over last year's pass percentage, because of the efforts put in by the colleges, he said.
