Protest against move to convert it as house sites for TTD employees
TIRUPATI: The marathon relay hunger strike by employees of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) seeking house sites is unlikely to see an end soon as the proposal of the TTD authorities to alienate the playground of Sri Govindaraja Swamy (SGS) Arts College has fallen flat.
The TTD is toying with the idea of using the vacant ground to provide house sites to its employees who are already on a warpath.
Students of the college numbering around 200 took out a procession and laid siege to the TTD's administrative building here on Monday wanting that the plan to `usurp' their playground be dropped forthwith.
The students raised slogans against the TTD management for eyeing the playground located in the heart of the city to be distributed as house sites for its employees. They appealed to TTD Chief Vigilance and Security Officer Hari Kumar to consider their plea and spare their playground.
Interestingly, the employees agitating for house sites were also witness to the protest by students.
