NELLORE: Students of government, Zilla Parishad and Municipal Corporation schools fared well in the SSC examination results which were announced on Sunday.

K. Sudhir of K.N.R Municipal High School in Bhaktavastala Nagar scored 582 marks. This is the first time that the municipal school scored the highest marks in the district.

In all, 962 students appeared for the exam from 15 Municipal Corporation schools of which 594 students (62 per cent pass) have passed. The success percentage in 2009 was 57, said Municipal Corporation Commissioner T.S.R. Anjaneyulu.

Another student, Jyothirmayee of Y.V.M.High School, secured 574 marks and P. Neelima of the same school got 559 marks. Of the total, 73 students got ‘A1 Grade' (above 500 marks) and 130 students secured ‘B Grade', said the Commissioner.

District Educational Officer E. Bala Kasaiah said 30,040 students had appeared for the exam from Nellore district.
