HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) and Lok Satta Party on Sunday criticised the authorities for their lethargic response to the cholera outbreak in parts of Musheerabad. Both the organisations blamed the State government for failing to come up with a fool proof plan to prevent outbreak of gastro and cholera in Musheerabad.
APCLC in a release demanded that the authorities should set up a high powered committee immediately and direct them to submit a comprehensive report on the outbreak of cholera and gastro. Lok Satta Party’s Katari Srinivasa Rao in the release said that successive governments have abdicated their responsibilities in providing basic amenities like safe drinking water, toilet facilities and quality primary health care to people all over the State.
Mr. Srinivas Rao also pointed out that the Government had totally neglected primary and preventive care by conveniently giving excessive focus to tertiary care by introducing concepts like Arogyasri. By such schemes, only a few lakhs have benefited while the large population in the State have continued to suffer, Mr. Srinivas Rao said.
