Development society takes decision on expansion

  • Priority for amenities, says Collector

    Kakinada: The government general hospital development society has decided to construct a ten- bed AC burns ward, 30-bed cancer ward, additional rooms for medical and surgical wards and 75- room house surgeons quarters.

    At its meeting on Tuesday, the society accorded permission for the purchase of two computers, a Xerox machine, replacing of wiring in blood bank and installation of AC machine in the paediatric ward.

    Appointment

    Presiding over the meeting, Collector M. Subrahmanyam asked hospital authorities to eliminate middlemen while making contract appointments for the posts of nurses and staff and entrust the same to the district federation.

    He wanted that merit should be the criteria for the contract appointments and the district federation should arrange payment of wages to them through cheques taking 5 per cent service charge.

    The Collector said that highest priority was being accorded for providing basic amenities in hospital and construction of three new buildings was already completed providing additional accommodation.

    Engineers warned

    He instructed engineers to expedite construction of the new buildings ensuring quality and warned of action if any irregularities were found. The district Collector promised housing to the poor among the class four staff under the Rajiv Gruha Kalpa housing complexes.

    He instructed the Hospital Superintendent to take steps to filling vacancies of 50 `thoties' and additional security personnel.

    When some members raised the problems regarding maintenance of the CT scan, the Collector suggested collection of charges from outsiders. According to the new GO issued, he said, the society would be reconstituted with ZP Chairman as its chief.
