HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party on Tuesday criticised the Government and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for inviting Congress president Sonia Gandhi to visit the flood-affected areas in the State.

At a press conference, Polit Bureau member U. Venkateswarlu and senior leader M. Venkateswara Rao wondered why the Government was not urging the Prime Minister or Agriculture Minister to visit the State. They termed this a `mockery' of the Constitution.

They demanded sanction of ex gratia of Rs.2 lakh for each family, which had lost a member in the floods, supply of fresh seed and a 50% subsidy on fertilizer and waiver of water cess.
