Telangana Praja Front president, Gaddar, has charged the government with cheating farmers in the name of Rythu Chaitanya Yatra and alleged that nothing will come out of the programme for the farming community.
Farmers should be paid the amount immediately after selling the produce at the paddy purchase centres instead of delaying the payment for days together, he said while addressing a press conference at Kamareddi on Tuesday.
The minimum support price of Rs.1,030 per quintal being offered to paddy is only an eye wash. The amount should be hiked three times, he said. The balladeer said the government is cheating farmers by colluding with millers. “I am going round the districts to get to know the woes of paddy farmers and will fight for a profitable price to them,” he said.
Calling for united agitation for the formation of Telangana, Mr. Gaddar said he is trying to unite all sections of the society for the cause.
“We will wait till August 15 for the decision on the demand and thereafter the movement will be intensified,” he said.
