ONGOLE: A goods train derailed near Ongole south cabin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday disrupting movement of trains on the Chennai-Vijayawada section for nearly four hours.

The goods train Super Jumbo with empty rakes was coming from Chennai for loading of subabul plants at Ongole railway yard when the accident occurred.

Ahmedabad-Chennai Navjeevan Express was detained at Ongole for more than two hours and Yeshwanthapur-Patna Express at Suraraddypalem near here for an hour.

Howrah-Kanyakumar Express and Yernakulam-Patna Express were also held up.

Divisional Railway Manager J.N. Jagannadh rushed to the accident spot and supervised the restoration work.

Mr. Jagannadh told newspersons that there was no damage to the track and described it as a minor accident.
