GUNTUR: About 60,000 students appeared at the United Teachers’ Federation-organised Model District Selection Committee test for aspiring teachers in Andhra Pradesh and out of them 3,800 wrote the examination in Guntur district.

The model question paper was released by Teachers’ Constituency MLC K.S. Lakshmana Rao and Zilla Parishad CEO T. Durga Prasad at Hindu College here on Sunday.

There are 1,403 Secondary Grade Teachers’ posts and 500 School Assistant posts to be filled through a test to be conducted on May 29, 30 and 31 at which about 10,000 candidates are expected write the examination.


The MLC, who played a major role in the preparation of the material and question bank for the DSC model test and also conducting classes for students at several places in coastal districts from East Godavari to Nellore, said that it was quite heartening that 3,800 students took up the test at 12 centres in Guntur district with 2,000 of them writing in Guntur city alone.

The UTF had been conducting coaching for all those needy to appear at the DSC.

Different subjects

While for the SGT it was common paper to be attempted by all the candidates, there are different subjects in which candidates take the test like Mathematics, Biological science, Physics, and English and it was a daunting task preparing the material and question bank for the candidates, he explained.
