The chief pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, donated a ‘Golden Conch’ to Lord Venkateswara on Monday. The conch weighing about a kg and worth about Rs. 30 lakh was handed over to Executive Officer of the TTD L.V. Subramanyam by the seer inside the temple amidst a spiritual fervour. The conch shaped golden utensil would be used in temple rituals for conducting abhishekam to the deities.

Deputy E.O (Tirumala Temple) Chinnamgari Ramana, Peishkar Rama Rao, Parpathyedar Ajay and others were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, heavy rain lashed several places in Chittoor district for the last 24 hours. . Devotees visiting Tirumala had a tough time in running around to secure accommodation, transport and other amenities, as the rain offered no respite. The heavy downpour on Tirumala hills sent water gushing down the Kapila Theertham and Malvadigundam waterfalls.
