Goddess Padmavathi of Tiruchanoor has received a stone-studded golden apparel worth about Rs.4.33 cr on Saturday on the penultimate day of the on-going Kartheeka Brahmothsavam in the temple.
About 8.86 kgs of gold besides diamond and other precious stones weighing in all about 880 gms have reportedly gone into the making of the exquisite-looking apparel which would adorned the main deity on Sunday on the eve of the holy ‘Panchami Theertham’.
Woven and laced with fine thread made of gold, the apparel was made at Mumbai by a team of expert crafts-persons. The deftly-made dress material with a lot of in-lay works was donated by Cherukuri Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director of M/s. Transtroy-Tirupati-Tiruthani-Chennai Tollways (P) Ltd, a leading infrastructure company. Guntur Member of Parliament, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao (Congress) was also present at the brief ceremony held in the temple when the donor presented the offering to the TTD’s Executive Officer, L.V. Subramanyam and the Joint Executive Officer, P. Venkatrami Reddy.
Priests later performed the requisite purificatory rituals to the ‘sari’ and placed it at the holy feet of the Goddess in the presence of the donors.
