The irrigation officials on Thursday evening released 56,000 cusecs of water into sea as a result of sudden increase of inflows into the river at Dowleswaram Barrage. According to V. Vengopal, Superintendent Engineer, Head Works, all the 60 gates of Barrage were lifted as the gushing water inflow was heavy by Thursday evening. He said that they are expecting more inflows as a result of heavy rain in catchment areas and in upper part of the river. –Staff Reporter
