YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday reiterated his plea that his party be given 30 Lok Sabha seats to stall the move to bifurcate the State.

Addressing public meetings after unveiling YSR statues at Patthikonda and Nakkapalle villages of Palamaner constituency in the district, where he launched the second leg of the joint programme, Samaikyandhra and Odarpu Yatra, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy urged the people of Chittoor district to set aside their political affiliations and work for Samaikyandhra.

He said there were divisive forces working for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and he would teach them a fitting lesson in the general elections. Squarely blaming Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu for factors leading to the bifurcation, Jagan said, “God is watching them from above.”

He asked the people of Chittoor to question Mr. Naidu when he toured the district for Praja Garjana on December 29 as to where they could get drinking water. The Chief Minister should explain to people where their children would get jobs if the State was bifurcated. He faulted Mr. Naidu for not giving a letter to the President in support of a united Andhra Pradesh.

Compared to the first leg of his yatra in Kuppam, the second leg received mixed response. His itinerary on Friday included consoling family members of one Jagannatham at Appinapalle as part of Odarpu Yatra, and a night halt at Velagattur. At Appinapalle, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy said that he had the guts to take the message of Samaikyandhra to every nook and corner of the State.

On Saturday, he will resume his yatra in various villages of Peddapanjani mandal and on Sunday he will tour Punganur constituency.
