Kakinada: Special Commissioner for Land Administration P. Sundar Kumar has instructed officials of the Revenue Department to expedite the settlement of long-pending issues involved in land acquisitions.

Due priority should be given to computerisation of passbooks and distribution of title deeds to farmers, he said at a review meeting on land acquisition related matters with Joint Collector K. Sasidhar and other officials.

‘Big problem'

Mr. Kumar said emphasis should be laid on weeding out fake pattadar passbooks, which was found to be a big problem in some districts. Records of registrations done should be submitted to banks for this purpose. Steps for speedy entry of data online should be taken.

Mr. Sasidhar said computerisation of passbooks would be completed in about three weeks for which an action plan was prepared.

The problem of fake passbooks was almost non-existent.

Additional Joint Collector B. Rama Rao, District Revenue Officer S. Venkat Rao, Kakinada RDO G.C. Kishore Kumar, Kakinada rural tahsildar Johnson and District Revenue Association president P. Trinadha Rao were present.
