A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice P.C.Ghose and Justice Vilas Afzalpurkar on Monday granted six weeks to the GHMC to control the mosquito menace.

The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by an advocate, Wasim Ahmed Khan, who complained to the court that the authorities had not taken proper action to clean the filth which had become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. The GHMC counsel submitted a report and said that all steps are being taken. The petitioner produced photographs to show overflowing drains and open nalas. The Bench adjourned the matter and granted six weeks to the GHMC to report compliance.
