GHMC has prepared plans to take up additional lifting of domestic and animal waste from Nov.7 to Nov.10 in view of ‘Bakrid' next month.
More vehicles including front-end loaders, skid steer loaders, JCBs and tippers of varying capacities are also to be pressed into service at an estimated cost of Rs.20 lakh. A trenching ground too has been prepared at the Jawaharnagar dumping yard for disposal of animal waste.
A meeting convened by Deputy Mayor Jaffer Hussain and attended by Additional Commissioner (Health & Sanitation) S. Aleem Basha and other officials discussed on the measures to be taken up for tackling more waste likely to be generated during the period. These steps would be in addition to the existing collection, lifting and transport of solid municipal waste every day in the twin cities, a press release said.
