Judge of the Special Court for SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act Court Nageswara Rao on Thursday found a driver Ommi Ramu guilty of outraging the modesty of a minor girl and sentenced him to undergo five years of rigorous imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs. 1,000.

According to Special Public Prosecutor Gudla Ramesh, the accused had entered the house of the victim, his neighbour, during October 2007 when she was alone and raped her. She became pregnant and on June 18, 2008 she gave birth to a still-born baby girl. DNA test was done and Ramu was confirmed as the baby's father.

He was sentenced under Section 376 of IPC and Sec. 3 (I) and (XII) of SC, ST (PoA) Act.
