IMS Learning Centre organises national quiz competition

    GUNTUR: An institute for imparting specialised coaching for competitive examinations like CAT, GRE, GMAT and TOEFL, the IMS Learning Centre will organise a national quiz competition for undergraduate students in Guntur on Sunday.

    The IMS Learning Centre Guntur director Uma said that this was the third year in succession that the IMS Quotient was being organised and it had been expanded to 24 cities in the country this year from 10 cities last year.

    This year there were some exciting prizes for the three national winners - 10-day all-expense paid study tour of Australia and each winner from a city gets two-day cruise to Goa.

    Large participation

    The winning college gets Rs.1 lakh in addition to the individual prizes to the participants, while other winners get laptops and motorcycles. At Guntur the IMS expects a participation of 100 teams.

    Each team comprises of three members from the same college and Intelligence Quotient would be tested with quizmaster Charanpreet Singh testing them at four different difficulty levels.

    Elimination round

    At the Hotel Viceroy in Brodipet the participants would gather for the first round at 10 a.m. to answer questions related to general knowledge, history, current affairs, music, people and literally everything under sun, she observed.

    Six finalists would be chosen for the city finals from the elimination round.


    There will be three semi-finals of eight teams each and winners there would move to national finals. `Smartest Collegian Trio of 2007' would be screened at a grilling eight-round event.

    Meanwhile, the Microsoft `The World's Premier Student Technology Competition' forms would be made available at the IMS Quotient and those registering for the competition would be required to attend two rounds of Software Design.

    Other competitions and the finals would be organised in Korea.
