The Hindu Young World painting contest today
Schoolchildren who have been waiting to unleash their creative streak in drawing and painting may pick up their paint brushes and get set to splash around their innate talent.
The Hindu Young World Painting Competition-2012, an annual event that witnesses participation of hundreds of enthusiastic children drawn from various schools in this region, will be held at V.P. Siddhartha Public School at Mogulrajpuram in the city on Sunday (February 10).
The 400-odd participants from 88 schools in five districts have been categorised into two groups — Juniors (classes 4 to 7) and Seniors (classes 8 to 10).
All participants must reach the venue by 8.30 a.m. and the event will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The participants must bring the call letter sent to the finalists by The Hindu office and their ID cards. Spot admission will not be entertained. Drawing sheets will be given by the organisers at the venue and children must bring their own colours and paint brushes.
In addition to first, second, and third prizes in both the categories, seven consolation prizes will also be given to children from both the groups.
A cash prize of Rs. 5,000 will be given to the first prize winner among Seniors, Rs. 3,000 to the second prize winner, and Rs. 2,000 to the winner of third prize.
Among Juniors, the first prize winner will get Rs. 3,000, the second prize winner Rs. 2,000, and the third prize winner will get Rs. 1,000.
Besides, seven consolation prize winners in each group will get Rs. 500 each in addition to certificate. All participants will be given participation certificates and winners prizes by SKCV Home for Children chairperson Bhakti Manihara.
