Laments lack of coordinated effort by cadres in going to people and conducting ‘padayatras’

Lamenting the lack of coordinated effort by partymen down the line in going to people and conducting ‘padayatras’ and exposing the ‘misdeeds’ of the Congress, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday asked them to get into the election mode.

Recalling that he had asked for ‘padayatras’ to be undertaken in all the 294 Assembly constituencies in the State, he regretted that party leaders had taken it up only in 87 segments.

Even in these constituencies, there was varying degree of enthusiasm and involvement, he said, adding that people had turned up in large numbers since October 2, when he hit the road with ‘Vostunna Meekosam’ in Hindupur.

He was addressing a meeting of the TDP’s State executive at Veerlapalli village in Ranga Reddy district during his padayatra in which he covered about 700 km so far. He said more commitment and enthusiasm was needed in the party’s rank and file to motivate people. With other political parties gearing up for the polls, it was time the TDP did so too, he said.

Mr. Naidu said he would announce the names of candidates for the Assembly and the Lok Sabha well in advance of other parties. It was up to them to take the battle to the constituencies and showcase the all-round development achieved during the TDP rule in contrast to the corruption in the Congress regime.

He said the TDP would make significant announcements about its stand in respect of empowerment of women and better working conditions of Government employees.

Senior party leaders including Ashok Gajapati Raju, Y. Ramakrishnudu, Kadiam Srihari, Uma Madhava Reddy, MPs, MLAs, and Assembly and Lok Sabha constituency in-charges from across the State were present.
