People’s representatives deplore delay in implementation of schemes

Srikakulam: Cooperation from banks at the field level is not up to the expectation and as a result implementation of important welfare schemes like housing is getting adversely effected, according to Zilla Parishad Chairman Palavalasa Rajasekharam, MLAs -- Dharmana Krishna Das and Kinjarapu Acheyya Naidu -- and MLC Majji Sarada. They were voicing concern about this aspect at the district-level bankers’ meeting held at the Collectorate here on Wednesday. District Collector V.N. Vishnu presided over the meeting.

Bothsa Jhansi, Bobbili MP, stressed the importance of extending loan facility in time advocating time frame for sanction of loans for construction of houses.

She also wanted bankers to hold meetings with housing beneficiaries and explain to them various aspects of construction of a house.

Target achievement

As per the guidelines of the RBI, bankers had to achieve 40 per cent target by September, but banks in the district had been lagging behind on it, Mr. Vishnu said.
