Hanamkonda police take two persons into custody
Following a tip off, the police intercepted a vehicle at Hanamkonda chowrastha and seized 158 kg of ganja worth over Rs. 10 lakh here.
The police undertook vehicle checking operations late Saturday evening after receiving credible information that some persons were transporting ganja. They stopped a goods carrier with AP 23 X 3378 number plate. It had many empty trays and some with tomatoes and underneath these trays were packets of ganja.
On seeing the police, the driver stopped the vehicle and ran away. Two other people – Md Qayyum Shareef of Labour colony, Warangal and Md Mansoor of Nizambad were taken into custody for questioning. Hanamkonda Sub-Inspector of Police, Md Habeebudding Ghori told The Hindu that the ganja was being brought from Rajahmundry and surrounding places. They were transporting it to Maharashtra where it would fetch huge sum. Further investigation is on, the SI said.
