The audio CD of the film Gangaputrulu, directed by Nandi award winner Sunil Kumar Reddy, was released here on Wednesday by Mayor Pulusu Janardhana Rao.
Mr. Reddy himself penned the lyrics which are set to music by Immadi Sridhar. Music directors M.M. Keeravani, M.M. Srilekha and K.M. Radhakrishnan and Ms. Manasachari rendered the songs.
Set against the backdrop of displacement of fishermen owing to setting up of industries and special economic zones along the coast, the film has been shot in and around Visakhapatnam and of the four heroes, two are from Bhimunipatnam. The film is scheduled for release in the third week.
Addressing a gathering after releasing the CD, Mr. Janardhana Rao said the issue of hardships to fishermen hitting their livelihood had been taken to the notice of the Chief Minister by him and minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao. The Chief Minister assured that a committee would go into the issues before SEZs were finalised.
Andhra University Journalism Board of Studies Chairman P. Bobbyvardhan said in the name of development marine wealth was being plundered and fishermen deprived of livelihood from Tada to Ichhapuram.
The film's executive producer Kurra Vijay Kumar said Sunil Kumar Reddy had begun the film with virtually no money but as shooting progressed support came along. None of the actors took remuneration.
Sri Kanakamahalakshmi Devasthanam Trust Board Chairman K. Tata Rao described it as a film with social consciousness while TDP leader Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar described Mr.Reddy as a director with guts and assured him of support in future.
