City experiences power disruption as trees fall on live wires at some places
ELURU: Gale accompanied by heavy rain paralysed life in the city on Saturday night. The city plunged into darkness for well over three hours following disruption of power supply. Trees got uprooted and fell on live wires and houses in some areas, leading to a power disruption.
Electric poles got twisted and live wires snapped as a tree got uprooted at the Housing Board Colony at Vatluru on the city outskirts.
As a result, traffic movement on the narrow road was affected. Local residents engaged workers to cut the tree branches, remove the debris and restore power supply in the area.
Similar incidents were witnessed in city and other parts of the district. Horticulture crops like mango suffered severe damage due to untimely rain.
The district was witness to such destruction for the third time in a fortnight.
