While the TDP district committee took out a two-wheeler rally through the streets and anointed NTR’s statue at the Collector’s Office with milk, District Congress Committee organised rasta roko at the same place and formed human chain demanding ‘samaikhyandhra.’
Congress leaders K. Veerabhadra Swamy, Rongali Pothanna, Pilla Vijaya Kumar, Yedla Adiraju and others participated. In the two-wheeler rally, TDP leaders I.V.P. Raju, K. Murali mohan, P. Ramakrishna and others participated.
APNGOs led by Prabhuji, the association president, staged protests at the house of P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, TDP MLA, and B. Appala Naidu, Congress MLA. While Mr. Ashok quit his post, Mr. Appala Naidu is yet to do so. Meanwhile, Botcha Appala Narasaiah, Gajapathinagaram Congress MLA, and Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy, MLC, quit their posts.
Print and electronic media journalists staged a dharna at the RTC Complex here in support of unified state.
Students, voluntary organisations and employees voluntarily joined the bandh. A.P. Panchayat Raj Chamber organised protests at Mayuri Junction. RTC did not operate services from Vizianagaram depot. Some educational institutions and shops remained closed on the fourth day on Saturday. In mandals abutting the NH-16 and Vizianagaram-Palakonda Road, students and SJAC leaders staged sit-in dharnas on the roads throwing traffic out of gear. The protests by various SJACs were peaceful.
