Children’s Day was celebrated by various schools, banks, and other institutions in the city.
Andhra Bank: Zonal Manager B. Bhaskara Sarma distributed uniforms to 100 students of Prema Primary School, Prema Samajam.
Prema Samajam secretary P. Ganapathi, treasurer Visweswaram, correspondent S. Satyanarayana, and headmistress G.M. Chandravadana were among those who participated.
Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan: Students of the school celebrated the occasion with their counterparts from Italy. Police Commissioner J. Purnachandra Rao participated as chief guest.
Retired Additional SP T.S.R. Prasad, Prof. Giancarlo Giubilo, Prof. Enrico Chiarini, and Prof. Raffaella Santhorelli from Rome and school director Ch. Vasu Prakash were among those who were present.
GVP MLBT School: Discipline was the key to success, said Prof. P. Rajaganapathi, who participated as chief guest at the Children’s Day celebrations at the school. He said only children can contribute to the progress of the nation.
Govt. Boys Special Home: Children’s Rights Week commenced on Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary. Senior Civil Judge K. Surya Rao, who participated as chief guest, garlanded a portrait of Pandit Nehru and lit a lamp. Prof. N. Nirmala of Andhra University, psychologist M.S. Rao, and Superintendent of the Home P. Annaji spoke.
St. Francis School: Children’s day was celebrated on the school’s premises at Madhurawada with teachers organising a cultural programme and a treat for pupils.
Vardhan of Class VI was the chief guest of the day. Nearly 500 parents and guardians witnessed the fete, which was held to provide charity to the needy in the city as part of the school’s outreach programme, principal Fr. P.C. Joseph said.
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Public School: Week-long programme was organsied for children in various competitions, sports, and extra curricular activities. Deputy DEO C. V. Renuka, who was the chief guest on Wednesday, encouraged the students to take active part in games for the overall development of their personality. Children performed cultural programmes. Later, prizes were distributed to winners and toffees to all. Correspondent P.V. Ramana Murthy was present.
Synergies Castings Limited: The company celebrated Children’s Day by organising fancy dress and quiz competitions to children of employees. In all, 120 children participated. Gifts were distributed to children.
