VIJAYAWADA: Revolutionary balladeer Gadar will inaugurate ‘Sphoorti-2007’, a four-day intra mural and inter-collegiate cultural and literary festival of the Andhra Loyola College (ALC) at 2.30 p.m. on Thursday at Fr. Devaiah Auditorium of the college campus.

College Principal S. Emmanuel and dean of student activities K.Vijay Babu said at a press conference on Wednesday that Gadar would address the students on the theme ‘Art for social change’. Fr. Emmanuel said invitations had been sent to 70 degree colleges affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University. Degree students of arts, science and commerce colleges of Andhra University and Aadikavi Nannayya University would participate in the contests on September 8 and 9. Board and lodging would be provided to students of outstation colleges who sought the same in advance.

Two students would be allowed to represent each college in the debate and essay writing contests in Telugu and English. Only one student can represent each college in the painting contest. A group of a minimum of four students and a maximum of six students would be permitted to participate in the group singing contest. Groups participating in the mime contest should not have less than two members and more than six members, while for skit and group dance the group size should be between four and ten. A quiz team should have three students.
