HYDERABAD: The government has once again invited Request For Qualification (RFQ) applications from prospective bidders for taking up the elevated metro rail project for the capital under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

Applications will be made available at the Metro Rail Bhavan office in Saifabad from July 21st onwards and last date for submission will be September 7th 11 a.m.

A public notification for the fresh RFP was issued late on Thursday night by the Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, C.V.S.K. Sarma, who is also the Chairman of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) Limited, the special purpose vehicle formed to take up the project.

Project cost for the three routes of little over 71.16 km remains at Rs. 12,132 crore for now as per the notification of which the Central Government had already granted 20 per cent of the project cost (Rs. 2, 363 crore) as viability gap funding.

Few days ago, the government announced scrapping of the deal with Maytas led consortium which bagged the contract last year as it was unable to complete financial closure by the scheduled date.
