Union Minister of State for Communication & IT, Killi Kruparani on Tuesday approved an NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics and IT), the first in A.P., to be located in Tekkali, at an estimated cost of Rs. 50 crore.

Interestingly, the Union Minister laid the stone for construction of a building for the NIELIT Centre in Tekkali on April 16 itself.

Because full-fledged construction would take time, she asked NIELIT officials to start temporary training centres in rented accommodation in Srikakulam and Tekkali and provide computer training for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes & Tribes and women in the areas, free of cost.

Temporary centres

The temporary centres would be operational in private computer training institutes in both locations that are already NIELIT accreditated.

At a meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday, she directed NIELIT Managing Director Ashwini Kumar Sharma, to start the temporary centres on May 14.

Currently, NIELIT has 23 centres across the country.
